ViperVision Notice: How Windows 24H2 Affects Performance

Attention: ViperVision software customers

Ensuring the quality and reliability of our products is our top priority at Viper Imaging. We have discovered an issue some of our software customers have experienced as a result of updating to Windows 11 version 24H2 and wanted to make this information available.

Windows 11 24H2 Image

Description of the issue:

This issue stems from a new automatic security feature in Windows 11 known as “Local Security Authority Protection.” Designed to safeguard your credentials, it prevents unsigned drivers and plugins from integrating with the Local Security Authority. Unfortunately, this means some essential drivers and libraries could be blocked, leading to functionality disruptions with our software.

We understand you may have questions and are here to help!

Does this affect me?

Yes – if your organization runs the update to Windows 11 24H2.

What action is required?

Adjust the security settings to prevent essential drivers and libraries from being blocked.

  • Turn off the new default “Local Security Authority Protection.” Find this setting in Windows Security settings > Core Isolation.

FAQ

  • What are the associated risks if I install Windows 11 version 24H2 and do not adjust the security settings? Some essential drivers and libraries will be blocked, which could limit the full potential of your ViperVision experience.
  • If I install Windows 11 version 24H2 and turn off the Local Security Authority Protection, will my system be vulnerable to malware? Yes, but no more than before the update. We recommend isolating your network to minimize risk. As always, work with your system administrator to fully understand possible impacts.
  • What ViperVision functions are impacted if I do not adjust the security settings? Discovery is unlikely to function properly. Image quality may be compromised, and several performance-related drivers might not work. In some cases, ViperVision may fail to start.
