Meet Desmond Harris, one of the creative minds on our software team here at Viper!

Desmond joined the team in 2019 as a software intern and quickly earned his way up to being our top software developer. Bringing 10+ years of experience in software development, automation, and systems integration, he specializes in system architecture, image processing, and binary analysis, and takes pride in building end-to-end systems that connect hardware, code, and data into one seamless workflow.

A U.S. Air Force veteran and former aerospace propulsion engineer, Desmond achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before shifting his focus to software. Entirely self-taught, he says his skills came from “curiosity, persistence, and breaking things until they made sense.”

Desmond is also a member of the Free Software Foundation (FSF), Open Source Initiative (OSI), and DEFCON communities.

Outside of work, Desmond enjoys tinkering with Raspberry Pi, reverse-engineering IoT devices, and modded Minecraft—as well as teaching his son to wrestle and build.

When asked why he loves working at Viper, Desmond put it simply:

I love working with all the good people here–and they keep feeding me, which is a huge “W” in my book.”
