We are thrilled to introduce Patrick Thomas, our new Manufacturing Product Engineer! Patrick joins us with a strong background in engineering, gained over several years in the renewable energy sector. His experience includes contributing to the design of numerous large-scale solar installations exceeding 1 MW for the city of San Antonio, TX.

April 2025 – We are so pleased to welcome Patrick to the Viper team! He brings valuable expertise in 2D and 3D CAD, product design, manufacturing processes, and mechanical concepts. Known for his organizational skills and passion for research, Patrick applies an enthusiastic and creative approach to problem-solving. He is eager to contribute his skills to developing innovative process monitoring products and solutions for Viper customers.

In this new role, Patrick is responsible for product innovation, development, and optimization. He will partner with clients during the sales process to understand their needs and present solutions, ensuring a seamless transition from design to execution. He will also work closely with internal teams to align efforts for successful product launches.

Patrick earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University and is a licensed EIT (Engineer In Training). He resides in Vestavia Hills, AL, with his fiancé, Bailey, and their Alaskan Husky, Charlotte. His interests include cooking, traveling, hiking, and Auburn athletics.

Q: Where is your hometown?
Patrick: I am from right down the road in Hoover!

Q: What motivates you in your work?
Patrick: I want to create solutions that have a life beyond my own uses and serve many other people.

Q: Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Patrick: I wanted to be an astronaut or an engineer! So I get to put half a check mark on that!

Q: What do you think are the best skills you bring to the job?
Patrick: I am very organized and enjoy researching and learning – as well as being very creative.

Q: What drew you to pursue a career with Viper Imaging?
Patrick: What drew me to Viper Imaging was how innovative our products were and how tailored each system could be for each customer. I think a lot of good things happen when you have the ability and opportunity to make changes and try new things.

Q: Describe your perfect vacation.
Patrick: Anywhere where I can be surrounded by nature and family – away from crowds!

Q: Complete this sentence: If I were a superhero, my superpower would be _____.
Patrick: It may be a boring answer, but flying is an underrated superpower.

Q: Are there any books, shows, or podcasts that you’d recommend to others?
Patrick: I enjoy anything by Tolkien, and I recommend First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen.

Q: When you’re not working, what are you happiest doing?
Patrick: I enjoy traveling with my fiancée, Bailey, and our dog, Charlotte.
